Guide to locations and activities around Bešeňová
The Liptov region is one of the most diverse tourist areas in Slovakia. Thanks to the combination of thermal springs, limestone valleys and a water reservoir, it offers year-round activities.
Bešeňová is a strategic point from which key attractions are accessible within a 20-minute drive. This guide will help you plan your stay effectively.

AQUAPARK BEŠEŇOVÁ AND HOTEL AQUAMARÍN
The FRIENDs and Family apartments are located directly in the premises of the Hotel Akvamarín, which is connected to the Aquapark Bešeňová:
- Accessibility: Guests use a covered glass connecting corridor that leads directly from the hotel to the pools, eliminating the need to move around the outdoor area.
- Facilities: The complex offers swimming pools with clear and geothermal water (40°C), pools with slides and waves.
- Wellness: It includes the Harmony sauna world. It offers dry, steam and infrared saunas with regular rituals.
- Parking: Guests of the apartments have access to parking directly at the Akvamarín Hotel.

KVAČIANSKA VALLEY AND MOUNTAINS
One of the most beautiful valleys in Slovakia, known for its technical monuments in a deep canyon.
- Location: Village of Kvačany (distance from Bešeňová: 13 km / 15 minutes by car).
- Access: Park your car in the paid parking lot at the end of the village of Kvačany. Continue following the red sign.
- Route: The path is wide, gravel and technically undemanding. It is suitable for families with children and cyclists. The ascent to the mills takes approximately 1.5 hours.
- Interesting fact: Oblazy are unique wooden watermills that are kept in operation by volunteers. You can see flour grinding and wood cutting, powered entirely by water.

PROSIECKA VALLEY
A neighboring valley with a wild character, limestone walls and ladders.
- Location: Village of Prosiek (distance from Bešeňová: 10 km / 12 minutes by car).
- Access: Parking is located in the meadow before the entrance to the valley (paid during the season).
- Route: Blue tourist sign. The first part leads through the rocky "Gates". In the middle part there are ladders and steel platforms to overcome the rocky thresholds.
- Waterfall: A short detour from the main trail will take you to the 15-meter Red Sands Waterfall.
- Recommendation: Sturdy footwear is required. The trail is not suitable for strollers or small children who cannot handle the steep climb up the rocks.

BLACK ROCK
A rocky plateau with one of the best panoramic views of Liptov.
- Location: Liptovská Anna village (distance from Bešeňová: 6 km / 8 minutes by car).
- Access: Parking is possible in the village (by the church or in marked places).
- Route: Follow the red mark. The climb is quite steep, but short – it takes about 45 to 60 minutes.
- View: From the top you will see the entire Liptovská Mara, the ridges of the Low Tatras and, with good visibility, the Western Tatras.

LIPTOVSKÁ MARA AND HAVRÁNOK
The largest Slovak dam and an archaeological site above its surface.
- Location: Coast between Liptovský Trnovec and Bobrovník.
- Activities: At MaraMarina it is possible to rent boats, jet skis or take a sightseeing boat cruise.
- Havránok: Archaeological open-air museum of Celtic settlement. Park your car at the dam wall (Bobrovník) and walk up the hill (approx. 15 minutes). You will see reconstructed Celtic dwellings and fortifications.

LIPTOV OLD CASTLE (SIELNICKY CASTLE)
This is the highest castle in Slovakia (1000 m above sea level), of which only picturesque ruins remain today, surrounded by nature. It is one of the best places to observe the panorama of the entire region.
- Location: Above the village of Bukovina / Sielnica (distance from Bešeňová: approx. 10 km / 12 minutes by car).
- Access: Park your car at the end of the village of Bukovina or in the area below the castle (by the information boards). From there, continue following the red and later yellow tourist signs.
- Route: The climb is of medium difficulty, leads through the forest and takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. The path becomes steeper at the end.
- Interesting fact: The castle once guarded an important road through the mountains. Today, you can find the exposed foundations of the castle walls and towers. However, the greatest reward is the uninterrupted view of the entire surface of Liptovská Mara and the ridges of the Low Tatras directly from the walls.

THERMAL SPRING OF KALAMENA
After descending from Liptovský Starý hrad, directly below the hill there is a unique natural lake with thermal water. It is a freely accessible borehole that created a small swimming pool in the middle of nature.
- Location: Kalameny village (distance from Bešeňová: 7 km / 9 minutes by car).
- Access: You can park your car in a paid parking lot (municipal fee) just a few meters from the spring.
- Water properties: The water is a pleasant 33°C to 35°C all year round. It has weak mineralization and a subtle sulfur smell, which is typical of medicinal springs in this area.
- Experience: The lake is surrounded by forest and meadows. Swimming is possible in any season - its greatest charm is in winter, when it freezes and steam rises above the surface. Since it is a natural creation, you will not find changing rooms or luxurious facilities here, which, however, completes the authentic atmosphere of the place.

CLEAR AND WINTER TOURISM
In the winter months, activities are moved to nearby resorts.
- Skiing: Jasná Low Tatras is the largest resort in Slovakia. It is accessible by car from Bešeňová in 25-30 minutes. Parking is possible in the parking lots (Lúčky, Biela Púť).
- Winter hiking: Kvačianska dolina (Oblazy mills) is accessible even in winter and the path to the mills is usually well-trodden. Hiking boots (crutches) are recommended for the ascent to Čereňová skala due to possible icy terrain.

A stay in Bešeňová in the FRIENDS and Family apartments offers the ideal balance between relaxation in the thermal water and active exploration of Liptov. Thanks to the short distances, it is possible to complete a hike in the canyons of the Choč Mountains in one day and end the evening with regeneration in the Harmónia wellness center. When planning trips, we recommend following the current weather forecast and choosing sturdy shoes for hiking in the valleys.
